The Short Answer

Sylfirm X and Rejuran address overlapping problems in different ways. Sylfirm X is an energy-based microneedle radiofrequency (RF) treatment that heats the deeper skin to firm and tighten, and is often chosen for melasma, redness and pores.

Rejuran is an injectable skin booster made from salmon polynucleotides (PN) that supports the skin’s own repair, and is generally chosen for firmness, glow, fine lines and acne marks.

Neither is simply better; the right choice depends on your main concern, and many people use them together. At Bibi Clinic both are physician-led, and your plan is confirmed at consultation. Individual results vary.

What Each Treatment Is and How It Works

Before comparing them, it helps to know what category each falls into. That one fact explains most of the differences below.

Sylfirm X combines microneedling with radiofrequency. Ultra-fine needles deliver controlled heat into the dermis across eight modes, which may prompt the skin to rebuild collagen while the surface stays largely undisturbed. It is generally used for melasma, redness, pores, texture and early laxity. [1][2]

Rejuran is a skin booster injected into the skin. Its salmon-derived polynucleotides support the skin’s own repair processes, and published reviews of polynucleotides in aesthetic medicine report improvements in skin texture and elasticity, with generally mild and transient side effects. [3] It works from within rather than by heating tissue, which is why it is usually described as a skin-quality treatment rather than a tightening device.

The treatment process

  1. Consultation. A physician assesses your skin and medical history and recommends one treatment, the other, or a sequence of both.
  2. Numbing. Both are performed after a topical anaesthetic is applied for comfort.
  3. Treatment. Sylfirm X passes a handpiece over the mapped areas; Rejuran is injected into the skin in small amounts across the treatment area.
  4. Aftercare. The skin is soothed and aftercare advice is given, including sun protection and moisturising.

Sylfirm X vs. Rejuran: Side by Side

They are not really rivals — they are different tools for different jobs, and once that is clear, choosing gets much simpler. One reworks skin quality with heat and needling; the other supplies the skin with a repair-supporting material. Here is how the two line up on what actually affects your decision.

Which Is Right for Your Concern?

Neither one wins outright — it comes down to which suits the concern you most want to address. Start with whatever bothers you most, remembering that results differ from person to person.

  • Melasma, redness or a flushed look — Sylfirm X, thanks to its pigment-and-vascular mode
  • Dryness, dullness or fine lines — Rejuran, which supports hydration and glow from within
  • Enlarged pores or uneven texture — either may help; Sylfirm X often leads
  • Acne marks — both may help, and a combined plan is common

Because skin is individual, the clearest way to decide is a consultation. You can read more on the Sylfirm X treatment page and the Rejuran skin booster page.

Neither treatment suits everyone. Both are generally avoided in pregnancy and breastfeeding, over active skin infection or inflammation, and in certain medical conditions; Sylfirm X is also generally avoided with pacemakers, other implanted electronic devices or a keloid tendency, and Rejuran is not appropriate for anyone with a relevant allergy, including to fish-derived material. A qualified physician makes the final judgement.

Can You Combine Them?

Often yes, and they are frequently paired. The clinic may recommend combining an energy treatment with a booster for a complementary result: Sylfirm X works from deeper down, while a booster like Rejuran supports hydration and firmness nearer the surface.

Typically they are sequenced under medical guidance rather than done on the same day, with the timing tailored to how your skin responds along the way. Your physician plans the order and spacing so the two support rather than crowd each other. For many people that means a short Sylfirm X course for tone and firmness, with a booster added along the way.

Possible side effects

  • Redness and warmth, usually peaking within one to two days
  • Mild swelling, and tiny microneedle points that typically close within about four hours
  • Pain or a pricking sensation during and shortly after the session
  • Bruising in the treated area
  • Temporary dryness or flaking as the surface settles
  • Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, or a temporary worsening of melasma

These vary from person to person. Careful sun protection supports pigment outcomes, and anything unexpected or persistent should be reviewed by a physician.

With Rejuran, small bumps, swelling, redness, bruising or tenderness at the injection points are also possible and usually settle quickly. Allergic reactions are uncommon but possible.
